Pet Nanny

After retiring from a 30 year teaching career at a fairly young age I wanted to keep busy and earn some spending money. I decided to look for a part time job as a nanny. It would be fun to work with children in a relaxed environment. I could read to them. We could do arts and crafts projects, cook, play dress up and games. It would be fun. So I looked for ads in the newspaper and responded to one looking for a weekend nanny. The woman on the telephone seemed pleasant and interested in meeting me so I agreed to come to her home for an interview. When I arrived at the address I was given I was surprised to encounter an obscenely large home which ran an entire block. It had four garages and two entrances. I rang the bell and was greeted by a woman who appeared to be in her early thirties. She was olive skinned with typical mid-eastern features and long dark hair. She was of average height and weight and was wearing blue jeans, sandals and a tee shirt. She wore no makeup. She invited me in and introduced me to her husband who was blond and blue eyed. He appeared to be close to her in age. I wondered how these two had come to meet and what did they do for a living.

The inside was as opulent as the outside. The decor was contemporary and done well. The kitchen and family room however, were quite untidy. Toys, shoes and discarded sippy cups were everywhere .
